MONROE - Chloe Mae Casper became Green County's newest resident Saturday.

The baby girl was born Saturday, Jan. 5 at 6:44 a.m. at Monroe Clinic. Chloe weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and was 21 inches long at the time of her birth.

For first-time parents Brad and Kim Casper, she couldn't have come soon enough.

Kim and Brad went to the hospital around 6 a.m. Friday and waited and waited.

"She was a week late," Kim smiled. "She wasn't in any hurry to get here."

Brad stayed by his wife's side throughout the event. He said he was nervous during the birth, but as he looked at his baby girl, it was clear wait and nervousness were well worth it.

Chloe and her mother came home from the hospital Monday around noon.

Kim said they chose the name "Chloe" because she always liked it, and "Mae" was selected because it was Kim's grandmother's name.

Brad said he was surprised that Chloe was the first baby born in 2008. He and Kim said they expected someone else to have the first baby before Chloe was born.

Chloe's grandparents are Bernie and Judy Casper, Dodgeville, and Allen and Linda Schultz, Princeton. Great-grandparent is Nellie Gibbs, also of Princeton.
