While their Mallard mom watched, Monroe firefighters rescued 11 ducklings from a storm drain in the parking lot at 8th Street and 4th Avenue West at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday. “Mom was walking around us quacking while we were working,” said Fire Chief Dan Smits. Once firefighters got all the ducklings out, “she gladly took them and walked away.”
