DARLINGTON - Monroe Middle School Principal William Van Meer is one of four finalists for Darlington school superintendent.
The Darlington School Board and superintendent search committee scheduled meetings with the four candidates Wednesday and today to find a replacement for retiring superintendent Joseph Galle.
In addition to Van Meer, the candidates are:
Denise Wellnitz, special education supervisor with the Janesville school district.
Tom Wonderling, principal of St. Mary's Spring High School in Fond du Lac.
Tom Woznicki, who works for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Galle said the candidates will meet with school officials this week and the board probably will make a final decision at its Tuesday meeting.
Interviews with the candidates are in closed session, which means the public and press are not allowed to attend.
Galle said he's served as school district superintendent for nine years. He plans to retire at the end of the school year. The new superintendent would begin work for the district July 1, Galle said.
