Figueroa resigns as school superintendent

MONROE — The Monroe school board announced today, Friday, Jan. 10, that Superintendent Rodney Figueroa has submitted a notice of resignation to the board.

"It has been a privilege to serve as superintendent of the School District of Monroe, and I am grateful for its amazing staff and board members and our progress in achieving district goals," Figueroa said. "I have enjoyed serving the district's students, staff, families and the greater community, and I am proud of our accomplishments. With mutual respect, the board and I have agreed to separate."

The board plans to take action to accept Figueroa’s resignation at its meeting on Monday, Jan. 13.

"The board would like to thank Superintendent Figueroa for his commitment to the students and families of the School District of Monroe and wish him well for his continued success," said board president Rich Deprez. "The school board is committed to ensuring a seamless transition to the next superintendent."
