FHN restricts visitors over H1N1 fears

FREEPORT - As the number of H1N1 influenza cases in northwest Illinois continues to rise, FHN, in cooperation with the Stephenson County Health Department, will restrict the number and age of visitors allowed at FHN Memorial Hospital.

Effective Monday, and until further notice, all hospital visitors must be 12 years of age or older and each hospital patient will be limited to two visitors at a time. FHN and the Stephenson County Health Department also ask that anyone suffering flu-like symptoms refrain from visiting patients in the hospital.

All medical services remain available to patients of all ages throughout FHN.

"These new restrictions are an extension of our current visitor policy, which we enacted Sept. 21 to protect our patients and their families as well as our staff throughout the year," said Michael Perry, FHN president and chief executive officer, in the statement.
