MONROE - No blistering temperatures or stormy downpours at the Green County Fair? That's the way it's looking - the early extended weather forecast previews a week of sunny skies and mild summer temperatures.

The Green County Fair kicks off Wednesday and continues through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Monroe. Because the fair falls in the middle of July, exhibitors, their animals and fair-goers are often subject to brutal summer temperatures.

But not this year. According to the National Weather Service, today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Isolated showers are possible this afternoon.

Tuesday and Wednesday will remain relatively cool, with high temperatures of 68 and 70, respectively. Thursday's high will be 74, while Friday will be 76. The hottest day of the week is expected to be Saturday, with a comfortable high of 79. Sunday should reach 78 degrees.

It also looks to be a dry week. Tuesday has a slight chance of showers, and there's a 40-percent chance of showers Sunday.
