Fair looks to get people involved

MONROE - As the Green County Fair approaches in July, it's time to think about becoming involved.

The 2010 fair Premium Books are now available at all the local banks, from the fair office, or online at the greencountyfair.net. Opportunities for exhibiting include dairy, cheese, natural science, woodworking, vegetable and flowers, cultural arts, photography, sewing, home furnishings and knitting and crocheting. Entries are due to the fair office by July 3.

For individuals from one of the organizations involved with stands at the fair, now is the time to volunteer.

The Green County Fair is looking for a group or organization that would be interested in parking cars during the fair. In exchange for the service, the group will receive a donation from the fair.

Online tickets are now on sale for the "Lonestar" Concert and the demolition derbies by logging in to greencountyfair.net. There is a service fee to order tickets online. Those buying tickets will have the opportunity to select their own seats - chairs, bleachers or grandstand for "Lonestar" and grandstand and end bleachers for the Demo Derbies. Tickets will also be sold as usual during the fair at the ticket window.

The fair board also encourages people to take the online survey on the fair Web site to help organizers provide a bigger and better fair experience.
