Fair entertainment kicks off July 21

MONROE - The 2010 Green County Fair will kick off Wednesday, July 21, and conclude Sunday, July 25.

Free and paid shows will be offered at the grandstand. Free grandstand shows start at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, featuring the Three Hills Rodeo.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, July 22, the Badger State Tractor Pullers race across the track. There will be local pullers competing in the competition.

On Friday, July 23, the Dude Creek Horse Pullers will start the grandstand's activities at 4 p.m.

The second Friday night show will feature country music performer Maggie Mae. Mae, the co-owner of Maggie Mae's Cafe in Oxford, has made a number of personal appearances and has performed at the RFD Theater in Branson, Mo. She will do a one-hour show, with a 30 minute break, and return for a different one-hour show. The grandstand will not be cleared between shows.

Country group "Lonestar" will be the featured entertainment at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24. Cody Collins, Dean Sams, Michael Britt and Keech Rainwater make up the group. The group's notable songs include, "I'm Already There," "My Front Porch Looking In" and "Mr. Mom."

Entertainment concludes Sunday, July 25, with three events. Harness racing, which has been a long-time event at the fair, begins at 10:30 a.m. Demolition derbies begin at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for "Lonestar" go on sale from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17; noon to 5 p.m. Monday, July 19; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, and during regular ticket booth hours for the rest of the fair.

Tickets will be on sale for the demolition derbies at 8 a.m. Monday, July 19; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 20; and during regular ticket booth hours.
