MONROE - Still at least two years away from completion, Monroe Clinic's expansion project has generated discussion and questions.
The Clinic is giving the public a chance to have those questions answered during an information session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the Monroe High School's Performing Arts Center.
The new building to the northwest of the clinic facility could be completed by 2011, The $85 million expansion project will add about 210,000 square feet to the clinic.
The new building will include an expanded emergency department, all private rooms, a new chapel, expanded family birth center, emergency helicopter landing pad and day surgery access with a private exit.
The June 10 presentation will include the reason for the addition, financing for the project, how it will improve the patient experience and environmental responsibility, according to Liz Carroll, director of marketing and community relations at the Clinic.
"This presentation is the community's opportunity to see building plans and landscape designs and hear from the project team, architect and builder," Carroll said.
There will be time for a question-and-answer session after the presentation.
Questions can be submitted by e-mail at businessdev.monroeclinic.org before the presentation.
The presentation will provide an opportunity for people to learn about the project, see drawings and view materials that will be used, Clinic President and Chief Economic Officer Mike Sanders said.
"We are excited about the new addition and its implications for the surrounding communities," he said. "At the same time we understand that many people have questions about the project."
Seating for the event is limited. Those who plan to attend should reserve a seat by calling 324-1071 by June 3.
