MONROE - Monroe Arts Center Frehner Gallery presents a new exhibit titled "Out of the Woods: Remembering Nate Roth."
The exhibit pays tribute to long-time Monroe resident and woodworker Nate Roth and showcases his woodworking talent.
The display features Roth's signature pieces such as hand-turned bowls, plates, ornaments and plant stands, as well as furniture and decorative items.
Roth worked in the construction business for 45 years and managed the Bruni-Miller Company in Monroe.
He was an expert at woodworking and created many beautiful pieces in his quaint backyard workshop.
The exhibit will be curated by fellow woodworker, Dennis Oostdik.
"Nate thoroughly enjoyed the creative process," Oostdik said. "There would be something that would capture his imagination. He would begin reading about it, dissect it, explore it, and then try to recreate it."
Roth was instrumental in the restoration of several area landmarks including the Historic Cheesemaking Center, Monroe Arts Center, Green County Welcome Center and the cannons on the Green County Courthouse lawn.
He also wrote a few books including one on the 5th Battery during the Civil War.
This exhibit will be on display from Thursday through Oct. 31.
An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Monroe Arts Center.
A gallery talk will begin at 5:30 p.m.
