MONROE - Green County Humane Society (GCHS) members will select four board positions Thursday at the organization's annual meeting.

The Humane Society annual meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Ludlow Mansion, 1421 Mansion Drive, Monroe.

President Paul Barrett, vice president Mary Jane Grenzow, treasurer Chris Soukup and secretary Heidi Treuthardt, all of Monroe, are up for re-election. They are being challenged by Kathryn Kubik, Freeport; Cara Miller, Sun Prairie; Robin Schneider, Monroe; and Jarrett Kelly, Monroe.

Information about each of the candidates is available at the Humane Society Web site, www.greencountyhumane.org.

In addition, members can vote for proposed changes in the organization's bylaws. Attorney Daniel Bartholf, chairman of the bylaws committee, will provide a list of changes and reasons for the changes on the GCHS Web site.

Some of the changes proposed to the bylaws include a date for the annual meeting and an allowance for special meetings called by 25 humane society members, if they sign a petition.

The bylaws also include changes that will require board candidates to obtain 10 signatures to have their names placed on the ballot rather than 20 stated in the current bylaws, and nomination applications must be returned to the GCHS secretary by March 1 rather than 45 days before the annual meeting.

The annual meeting will include an introduction to the candidates, a program to highlight the past year's activities and a silent auction.

The event is open to the public but only humane society members are allowed to vote. Membership to the GCHS can be purchased Thursday.

GCHS funds are not used to pay for the annual meeting.

There also will be refreshments and a cash bar.
