Eastbound Wis. 11 ramps to close
Entire project set to finish in November
hwy 11/81 construction plan

MONROE — The on and off ramps at Wisconsin 69/81 on Wis. 11 eastbound will be closed starting Monday, Sept. 23 as progress continues during the latest phase of this year’s major roadwork project.

The ramps themselves are already done, said Fehr Graham Engineering & Environmental’s Senior Engineering Technician Ken Plowman, but need to be closed for work on Wis. 69 south of the bridge.

They will remain closed for the duration of the project, which is currently scheduled to be completed by the end of November.

All dates could be affected by variables such as weather, but so far, the project has been fortunate in that regard.

“We had a lot of rain last week,” Plowman said, but it “didn’t delay progress very much at all.”

Looking ahead, Oct. 8 should see the opening of the on- and offramps for Wis. 59 westbound and closure of their counterparts at Wis. 69 westbound. That is all part of Stage 3B of construction, scheduled to last through mid-November. The final restoration and clean-up work of Stage 4 should be completed by the end of that month.

The overhaul of nearly 6 miles on Wis. 11 began in late March for the reconstruction the highway and its bypasses. The project is addressing the deteriorating concrete and poor ride quality between Wis. 81 and Hiltbrand Lane and includes work on ramps at Wis. 11, 69 and 59. Work will also improve the intersections with County KK, Stauffacher Road, Richland Road and Hiltbrand.
