Dog alerts to house fire in Belleville
Monroe Fire School

BELLEVILLE — A family escaped uninjured after their dog alerted them to a fire in their Town of Exeter house early Sunday, July 14, according to the Belleville Fire Department.

The dog was also unharmed, but the house is considered a total loss estimated at $400,000. The cause of the fire was reported as undetermined.

Belleville firefighters responded at 4:26 a.m. to the fire on Willow Lane, located southeast of Belleville and just north of the unincorporated community of Dayton. Nine area fire departments assisted, including New Glarus, Monticello, Albany and Brooklyn. No firefighters were injured.

Due to the fire, Green County deputies shut down County D between Wisconsin 92 and Hughes Road and rerouted traffic for about two and a half hours Sunday morning.

The Belleville Fire Department is collecting cash and gift card donations to help the family.
