MONROE - The Monroe School District will unveil a Web Talk program on the district's website soon.
Monroe School District Superintendent Larry Brown said the Web Talk program is like a blog and the district will post various issues and news items for citizens to log in and comment on. Brown said the Web Talk should be ready next week.
Brown said there will be no anonymous postings, name-calling or derogatory terms posted. The district will review each post.
"If someone doesn't agree with us, it doesn't mean their (comment) doesn't get on," Brown said.
Joe Monroe, the district's director of pupil services, updated the board on E. coli cases in the district.
The district and Green County heath officials last week required 4K and kindergarten students at Abe to be tested for E. coli.
The district has been working with Green County, the state, the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta and the Monroe Clinic. Monroe said custodial staffs across the district have been cleaning bathrooms three times a day and using a chemical disinfecting spray.
In other action, the board:
- Approved establishing a Monroe Arts and Academic Booster Club.
- Approved the Monroe Library trustee appointments of Terry Hyland, Myra Mueller and Trisha Patterson to fill three vacancies on the library board. The three appointed trustees were nominated at the last library board meeting Oct. 20.
- Honored Vicki Moon, an instructional technology technician, with the Lamp of Learning staff excellence award.
- Approved transferring Kathy Stilson from Northside School to Monroe High School cook.
- Approved a $500 donation from the Monroe Morning Optimists to the high school PBIs program.
- Mark Nesbitt
