MONROE - The Monroe School Board, in a reversal of an earlier decision, voted 5-3 Monday to purchase 180 computer work stations for $110,037 from CDW.
The board, in a tie vote May 9, decided not to purchase the 180 computer work stations with this year's technology. But the controversial measure came back again and it received enough support.
Monroe Business Manager Ron Olson said the district has the money in this year's technology budget to make the purchase.
He said there are still dollars from the last referendum that were earmarked for technology upgrades.
Several board members including vice president Bob Erb were reluctant to purchase the computers and favored a plan for adding the money to the fund balance.
Erb said waiting would give district flexibility with future budget concerns.
"This may be our last chance to make one of those purchases," Olson said.
