Development corp annual meeting will be April 29

MONTICELLO - The Green County Development Corporation will hold its annual meeting and recognition dinner on Tuesday, April 29 at Barnaby's Monticello House. A social and reception will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and a program at 6:30 p.m.

The event is open to business and community leaders from throughout the county. A welcome will be given by Mike Johnson, GCDC's new executive director. The event will also include an economic overview, award and a presentation focused on leadership and organizational improvement in the workplace.

Walter Jankowski, of Reinvention Consultants, LLC., will be the keynote speaker. Jankowski's program is "For Hire: Strategies for Attracting and Retaining Your Workforce." Jankowski has extensive experience in developing leaders, developing and implementing strategic plans, and providing organizational improvement services for businesses, governments, school systems, and not-for-profit organizations. He has also trained thousands of senior leaders, supervisory managers, and front-line workers in the principles of leadership, quality, continuous improvement and team development. His goal is to help organizations become more effective by helping to unleash individual potential and utilizing that wealth of knowledge for improvement.

The evening will also include the announcement of recipients of the Outstanding Business Award and the Richard B. Schmied Leadership Award, which are presented annually to an individual who exemplifies the true character of a leader in Green County. Johnson will be providing a brief overview of the organization's goals for 2014 and will recognize business and community accomplishments throughout the county.
