The National Weather Service predicted nearly 14 feet by late in the day on Oct. 2, but the prediction fell short as storms passed over south-central Wisconsin.
The Lafayette County Fairgrounds, local parks and fields, the walking trail and portions of Galena Street were flooded. The bridge over the river near Casey’s General Store, which leads to downtown Darlington, was closed by 3 a.m. Oct. 3 by Darlington Police as the Pecatonica reached 15 feet. It reopened with water still on the roadway around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 4.
