MONROE - The Green County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction raised $18,800 at the Green County Fair Sunday.

Half of the auction's proceeds go towards the Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Fund for FFA and 4-H scholarships, while the remaining half is awarded to the exhibitors.

Carly Arneson, Monroe FFA, received the auction's highest bid of $3,500 with her Supreme Junior Champion Grade Female entry. Arneson is the daughter of Nate and Julie Arneson.

Haley Reeson, York 4-H, Dayton Dairylanders 4-H, won the second-highest bid - $2,750 - with her Senior Showmanship winner. Reeson is the daughter of Dean and Rae Reeson. Reeson also was one of four winners of the Green County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Scholarship this year, which awarded approximately $2,500 between the four winners.

Beginning Showmanship winner Emma Hendrickson, Dayton Dairylanders 4-H, pulled the third-highest bid, at $2,300. Hendrickson is the daughter of Brandon and Kristen Hendrickson.

Kelsey Cramer, Juda FFA, won a $2,200 bid with her Low Somatic Stem Cell Count cow. A cow with a low somatic stem cell has a lesser risk of infection and is therefore more desirable as a milk producer. Cramer, another winner of the scholarship, is the daughter of Nikki and Robert Cramer.

Cramer also won a $1,200 bid for her Supreme Senior Champion Registered Female entry.

Intermediate Showmanship winner Cole Mahlkuch, Juda Jolly Juniors 4-H, also won a $2,200 bid for his entry. Mahlkuch is the son of Jeff and Terri Mahlkuch.

Brian McCullough, Juda FFA, pulled a $1,450 bid for his Supreme Junior Champion Registered Female entry. McCullough is the son of Chris and Kathie McCullough.

McCullough's sister, Rachel McCullough, Juda FFA, won a $1,400 bid for her Supreme Showmanship Champion cow.

Marley Malkow, Albany FFA, received the last two bids of the auction, a $950 bid for her Supreme Senior Champion Grade Female cow and an $850 bid for her Supreme Sportsmanship Champion cow. Malkow's parents are Tom Malkow and Marcia Davidson.

The remaining two scholarship winners are Danielle Dieckhoff, Juda FFA (daughter of John and Deb Dieckhoff), and Dylan McGowan, Pecatonica FFA (son of Rolly and Patty McGowan).
