MONROE - The Green County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Sunday broke two records this year, exceeding last year's record earnings by more than $300 and hitting a record, single bid of $2,850.

This year, bidders vying for boasting rights socked $14,350 into the auction's fund that splits the proceeds with its participants.

Haley Reeson, York 4-H, garnered the top bid of $2,850 with her Supreme Junior Champion grade female from New Glarus Welding. Reeson is the daughter of Dean and Rae Reeson.

Cory Bauman, Monticello FFA, pulled in the second highest bid for his Supreme Senior Champion-grade female. Washington Implement bid $1,700 for the honors. Bauman is the son of Dan and Denise Bauman.

Senior Showmanship winner Paige Dilley, Monticello FFA, got a bid of $1,500 from Roe Farms and Premiere Insurance. Dilley is the daughter of Steven and Teresa Dilley.

Lukas Wymer, Clarence Bridge Pioneers 4-H, pulled in $1,450 as the Supreme Sportsmanship Champion this year. Culver's, a first-time buyer at the auction, won the honor of displaying his award. The Supreme Sportsmanship Champion is judged on life-time achievements to win a spot in the Dairy Youth Recognition auction. Wymer is the son of Jeff and Valerie Wymer.

Emily Makos, Spring Grove Honest Workers 4-H, was the Beginning Showmanship winner. Colony Brands bid $1,400 to win her honors. Makos is the daughter of Eric and Jody Makos.

Mitchell Dammen, Dougherty Creek 4-H, was the Intermediate Showmanship winner and also got $1,400 for his honors. Tollackson Pioneer won the bid. Dammen is the son of Gary and Amy Dammen.

Ryan Smith, Monticello FFA, had the Supreme Senior Champion registered female. Pleasant Grain LLC, Burgy Century Farm, Premiere Insurance and Helena Chemical bid $1,200 to share his honors. Smith is the son of Randy and Jane Smith.

Kelsey Cramer, Juda FFA, brought in winning her Low Somatic Cell Count cow. Klondike Cheese bid $1,000 to win her honors. A low somatic cell count indicates the cow has a low amount of infection, creating better milk desired by cheesemakers. Cramer is the daughter of Robert and Nikki Cramer.

Green County Fair's Supreme Showmanship Champion, Patrick Blair of Dayton Dairylanders 4-H, pulled in $950 for the auction fund. Mahlkuch Electric won the bid for his honors. Blair is the son of Tim and Julie Blair.

Paige Hoesly, Clarence Bridge Pioneers 4-H, had the Supreme Junior Champion registered female. Iba Fahrney bid $900 for the honors. Hoesly is the daughter of Todd and Tricia Hoesly.

The Youth Dairy Recognition Auction highlights the accomplishments of the youth. The highest bidder in each category receives a crystal plaque inscribed with the youth's and buyer's names to display the participant's achievements.

The auction awarded four scholarships from its 2013 proceeds. Now in its 11th year, the recognition auction has granted $28,000 in scholarships.

The fund also supports improvements to the fairgrounds.
