Dairy Days events begin tonight

BRODHEAD - The three days of celebration Dairy Days begins tonight with the Queens Banquet at Brodhead High School.

"Moo Tails" will be served at 7 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m.. Billy's Sand Trap of Brodhead will cater the meal. Banquet ticket prices are $15 in advance or $18 at the door.

The festivities will continue with the Dairy Days Cattle Show, Saturday, June 18 at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe. More than 80 youth exhibitors are entered for this year's show, and will present nearly 160 of the best heifers in the state. Green County Dairy Day is one of the largest youth dairy shows in Wisconsin, and it is the show at which the dairy youth must qualify for Wisconsin State Fair.

The celebration will culminate Sunday, June 19 at Brodhead Veterans Park. The first Twilight in the Park Concert of the 2011 summer series at 6:30 p.m. will feature the Turtle Creek Ramblers. They'll perform a mix of old-time family country, gospel and bluegrass music. After the concert, at approximately 8 p.m. the 2011-12 Green County Dairy Queen and Princess will be crowned.

In case of rain, the crowning will take place at the Bank of Brodhead courtesy room.
