Covered Bridge Days this weekend

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead Covered Bridge Days Festival will be Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the downtown area will host the Wildflower Art Festival, Jaycee Kids Run, Garden Club display, historic wagon tours (the $4 cost is good for south-end admission also), the Brodhead Historic Museum, food, vendors and music, with a street dance in the evening. The juried Wildflower Art Festival is in the Veterans Park downtown and will feature 34 artists, homemade ice cream and live music. On Saturday, free wagon shuttle rides will operate between the downtown and the south end.

On Saturday and Sunday, the south end of town will hold the horse show, saw mill demo, tractor show, thresheree, vendors and crafts, food stands, garden tractor expo, children's pedal tractor pull, antique and garden tractor pulls and antique tractor drive. The softball tournament takes place on the north end of town both days as well. Embrace The Race boat rides on the Mill Race Raceway will be given both days in the area near the smaller old water tower downtown. Rides leave every half-hour. Adults cost $5 and children $3.

Sunday activities include the open air church service at 10:30 a.m. in Veterans Park, wild flower walk in Putnam Park at 10:30 a.m., classic car and motorcycle show, vintage bi-plane display, and the parade at noon, in addition to the activities listed above. All south end events require a $4 admission fee and are subject to change.
