MONROE - Brian Hillers, area resource conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service, will lead a discussion of the benefits of each variety of cover crop planted from 9 until 11 a.m. Thursday at the cover crop plot on the County Farm, off Highway 81, northwest of Monroe.
Dale Breuer, forage advisor with Heritage Seed Company, will answer questions about seed selection and planting.
Planting cover crops is growing in popularity because of the economic benefits of the practice. Not all cover crops are feasible for farmers, but each has its strength and drawback, and it's up to the grower to decide what is right for them.
