County set to shuffle its offices

MONROE - There still are people who aren't sure which county departments will move to the new justice center and which ones will stay at the Green County Courthouse.

"I guess some people just haven't listened," Green County Board of Supervisors Chairman Art Carter laughed. "We've told them but they haven't listened to us."

When the justice center is completed in August, the county's district attorney, corporation counsel, clerk of courts, circuit court judge, court commissioner and child support offices will move. All offices related to the court system will move to the justice center, along with the University of Wisconsin-Extension offices.

The clerk, register of deeds, treasurer and finance offices will remain at the Courthouse.

In addition, Green County Zoning, Green County Tourism and Green County Development Corporation will move from the Pleasant View Complex to the Courthouse. Those moves probably will begin in October, Carter said.

Carter said who specifically will move into which offices at the Courthouse hasn't been determined.

There are some changes planned for offices that remain in the Courthouse, Carter said. A door between the clerk's office and treasurer's office has been considered to give the treasurer's office more space. Carter said more records in the treasurer's office require more space.
