MONROE - Green County is paying a Nashville branding firm $91,000 to help the county determine what makes it unique.
The Green County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution authorizing a tourism branding project contract Tuesday. The tourism branding project will allow the Green County Tourism department to begin work with North Star Destination Strategies, a community and city branding specialist firm from Nashville, Tenn.
The county-wide branding project is intended to bring local communities together to decide what makes Green County different from other counties.
It is an image of what the county should be, said Sue Disch, Green County Board of Supervisor and Green County Tourism board member.
"The company that was chosen is highly regarded in the field," Disch told the board.
Other supervisors who serve on the tourism board agreed, adding that this partnership will help Green County.
"It's important not only to Wisconsin, but to Green County. It gets people to remember what Green County is about," said Harvey Kubly, Green County Board of Supervisor and Green County Tourism chairman. "This is something very important; we need to do this right."
The information collected by the company will help target potential audiences, officials have said previously.
Green County received a Destination Brand Joint Effort marketing grant, totaling $39,550 last month.
