MONROE - The City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee postponed making a decision on hiring a Wastewater Treatment Utility Superintendent at a meeting Tuesday.
"Nothing is conclusive," Committee Chairman Mark Coplien said.
The committee met in closed session Tuesday to discuss the qualifications of candidates and background checks information.
In open session, Coplien said the committee was not taking any action, because background checks had not been completed.
"They (background checks) should be done and a decision reached by April 7," he said.
The Common Council was scheduled to approve hiring a Wastewater Treatment Plant superintendent Tuesday, but the item was scratched from the agenda.
Common Council will meet Wednesday, April 7, instead of its regularly scheduled Tuesday, April 6, meeting, which is election day.
Five applicants for the position were selected for consideration Feb. 17 after the city advertised the opening in December and January.
Jerry Ellefson retired from the position Dec. 27 after 40 years with the department.
