Council to discuss drive-in concert
City Council

MONROE — The Monroe Common Council is set to discuss at the Aug. 3 meeting the possibility of a drive-in concert in Monroe. The concert would be put on by Main Street Monroe as a one-time replacement of the usual “Concerts on the Square” that take place in summer.

The proposal was met with overwhelmingly positive response from the Public Safety Committee before being passed to move on to the council.

Dependent on the council’s approval of the event, the drive-in concert would take place Aug. 15 at the Green County Fairgrounds.

Main Street Monroe developed the idea for the event after Monroe’s Sky Vu theater hosted a successful drive-in viewing of a Garth Brooks concert in June and other communities around the country held drive-in live concerts.
