MONROE - The first December meeting of the Monroe Common Council meant to be held Tuesday was canceled due to a lack of planned attendance.
About two hours before the meeting was set to begin, City Clerk Carol Stamm emailed a notice to city staff, council members and other contacts that the meeting could not happen due to illness and other attendance issues.
The scheduled Finance and Taxation Committee meeting set to begin just after 7 p.m. was also canceled.
Stamm said she is unsure whether the meeting would be rescheduled, adding that the items set for Tuesday night's agenda will likely "be held over for the next two weeks" until the Dec. 19 meeting. If any timely issues need to be addressed beforehand, a special council meeting could be held next week, Stamm said.
She added that the Finance and Taxation Committee, which listed the sole item of a revision to the city's fixed asset policy on its agenda, may need to meet next week.
