Monroe Police 

MONROE — A two-vehicle crash was reported at 8:08 a.m. Aug. 24. Norman I. Nall, 89, Monroe, was westbound on 9th Street when he hit a southbound vehicle on 20th Avenue. Nall was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign. The other vehicle was towed.

●  A two-vehicle crash with no injuries was reported at 11:39 a.m. Aug. 29 in the 2000 block of 14th Street. Amy M. Holst, 31, Monroe, was eastbound when she collided with a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle. She was cited for inattentive driving.

On Aug. 31:

●  A two-vehicle accident was reported at 9:55 a.m. Hedilberto Garcia-Garcia, 26, Freeport, was westbound on West 8th Street when he collided with a southbound vehicle on 6th Avenue West. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. He was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign.

●  A two-vehicle accident was reported at 11:23 a.m. Steven W. Cole, 64, Hazel Green, rear-ended a vehicle as both vehicles were eastbound in the 1600 block of 9th Street. The vehicles sustained moderate damage but were able to be driven from the scene. Cole was cited for following too closely.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — A two-vehicle crash with injuries was reported at 6:31 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Town of Clarno. Margaret A. Miller, 59, South Wayne, was eastbound on Melvin Road and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with Wis. 69. She continued onto Wis. 69 and collided with a southbound vehicle driven by Wayne M. Kaiser, 46, Winslow. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER. His vehicle sustained functional damage and was removed. Miller’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. Miller was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign. The Monroe Fire Department assisted deputies.

●  Brett L. Broge, 31, Monroe, reported no injuries from a cement truck rollover at 1:14 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Town of Sylvester. He was westbound on Wis. 11 and turning north onto Balls Mill Road when the truck overturned and came to rest in the road, leaking oil. It was towed. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Juda Fire Department assisted deputies. The Green County Highway Department cleaned up the oil spill.

●  A car vs. utility pole crash with unknown injuries was reported at 4:44 a.m. Aug. 27 in the W6200 block of Wis. 39, Town of New Glarus. Investigation revealed Bradley P. Thompson, 44, Blanchardville, was westbound when he fell asleep. He crossed the centerline into the south ditch and hit a utility pole, then left the scene. He was later located. He reported no injuries. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed. Thompson was cited for failure to notify law enforcement of an accident and failure to maintain control of a vehicle. The New Glarus Fire Department and New Glarus EMS assisted deputies on scene.

●  Scott M. McNett, 38, Monticello, reported no injuries from a one-vehicle crash at 5:29 a.m. Aug. 28 in the Town of Sylvester. He was turning southbound onto Dutch Hollow Road from County FF when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a stop sign and tree. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed. The Green County Highway Department responded to replace the stop sign. McNett was cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

●  Sonya C. Manriquez, 21, Janesville, and her passengers reported no injuries from a one-vehicle crash at 7:49 p.m. Aug. 29 in the W800 block of Atkinson Road, Town of Albany. She was eastbound when her vehicle entered the south ditch and hit a mailbox. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed. Manriquez was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while under the influence. She was also cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle. She was released to a responsible party pending court. Albany police assisted deputies on scene.

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 1:52 a.m. Sept. 1 in the N8600 block of County D, Town of Exeter. Upon arrival, deputies observed the vehicle was unoccupied and the driver had left the scene. Belleville police located the driver, Jeffry J. Wenger, 17, Belleville. He reported he fell asleep while driving northbound. The vehicle entered the east ditch and collided with the embankment, then became stuck. It was towed. Wenger reported no injuries. He was cited for failure to notify law enforcement of a crash, failure to keep a vehicle under control and inattentive driving.

●  Deputies responded at 6:19 a.m. Sept. 2 for a report of a one-vehicle crash in the N6100 block of County J, Town of Adams. The driver had left the scene. He was later identified as Maximo Murillo Lopez, 55, Belmont. He reported the accident occurred at about 8:40 p.m. Sept. 1 and that he was uninjured. The vehicle came to rest in a small wooded area after he lost control and went off the road. He left the scene and did not report the crash to law enforcement. The vehicle was later towed from the scene. Citations are pending for Murillo Lopez.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Aug. 7:

●  A hit-and-run was reported at 6:12 p.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Argyle. Dustin L. Walters, 32, Monroe, was northbound when he failed to negotiate a turn causing him to exit the roadway and enter the ditch. His vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed. He was cited for failure to maintain control of vehicle, failure to notify police of an accident, no vehicle insurance, driving with a revoked license and obstructing an officer.

●  A semi rollover was reported at 6:35 p.m. on Saint Peters Road, Town of Seymour. Steve M. Simmons, 47, Rewey, was westbound when an unknown northbound vehicle pulled out in front of him. He swerved to miss the vehicle, causing the semi to roll on its side. Simmons was transported by Belmont EMS for minor injuries. The 1995 Peterbilt, owned by Darrin L.M. Stanton, 35, Rewey, sustained severe damage. It was towed. The Belmont Fire Department, Alliant Energy, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin State Patrol and Seymour Township assisted.

●  A one-vehicle accident was reported at 10 p.m. on Mineral Road, Town of Darlington. Wyatt A. Owen, 18, Shullsburg, was eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a bridge. Owen was cited for failure to maintain control of vehicle, no vehicle insurance and allowing a passenger to not wear a seatbelt. His passenger, Nicholas J. Ludwig, 21, Shullsburg, was cited for non-registration of vehicle and no seatbelt. Ludwig’s 2015 Chrysler sustained severe damage and was towed. Seymour Township assisted.

On Aug. 8:

●  A two-vehicle accident was reported at 6:22 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of New Diggings. Michael A. Mullahey, 45, Cuba City, was eastbound when he slowed to turn onto County I when he was rear-ended by Lori A. Moctezuma-Zayas, 19, Monroe. Mullahey’s 2015 Hyundai and Moctezuma-Zayas’ 2011 Chevrolet received minor damage. Moctezuma-Zayas was cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

●  Lon A. Scheuerell, 42, Monroe, reported hitting a deer at 9:26 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Gratiot. Scheuerell’s 2012 Chrysler received minor damage.

On Aug. 9:

●  No injuries were reported from a one-vehicle accident at 3:41 p.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont. A 2001 Jaguar driven by Louis G. Pins, 61, Milton, started to hydroplane from heavy rainfall, causing it to exit the road and hit a road sign. The Jaguar sustained severe damage. It was towed. The Belmont Fire Department assisted.

●  Raymond D. Kisting, 82, Madison, reported hitting a deer at 11:46 a.m. Aug. 13 on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. His 2014 Buick sustained minor damage. 

●  No injuries were reported from a one-vehicle rollover at 3:56 p.m. Aug. 14 on Wis. 23, Town of Gratiot. Christopher A. Humphrey, 34, Browntown, was northbound when he lost control of his 1993 Ford to leave the road and overturn. The Ford sustained severe damage. It was towed. Humphrey was arrested on a second-offense charge of operating while intoxicated and cited for failure to keep a vehicle under control. Green County EMS of Darlington, Gratiot First Response and the Gratiot Fire Department assisted.

●  John E. Runde, 67, Belmont, reported a cow vs. vehicle crash at 8:29 p.m. Aug. 15 on County Z, Town of Kendall. No injuries were reported. The 2008 Toyota sustained moderate damage.

●  A hit-and-run accident was reported at 6:36 p.m. Aug. 16 on North Broad Street in Argyle. Curtis C. Dorsey, 67, South Wayne, hit a parked trailer owned by Harlan B. Erickson, 62, Argyle. Dorsey was cited for unsafe lane deviation.

●  John E. Dunlavy III, 51, Darlington, reported hitting a deer at 8:32 p.m. Aug. 17 on Wis. 23, Town of Willow Springs. His 2015 Dodge sustained minor damage.

●  Sheryl D. Demario-Mick, 47, Argyle, reported hitting a deer at 9:14 a.m. Aug. 18 on Wis. 78, Town of Argyle. Her 2012 Ford sustained minor damage.

●  A vehicle vs. UTV accident was reported at 1:17 p.m. Aug. 20 on Prairie Road, Town of Seymour. David C. Schollmeyer, 64, Shullsburg, was northbound on his 2020 Cub Cadet when he was rear-ended by Tammy Jo S. Stanton, 51, Cuba City, causing his UTV to overturn. Schollmeyer was transported by Shullsburg EMS to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. His severely damaged UTV was towed. Stanton’s 2005 Pontiac sustained moderate damage. Darlington police assisted with traffic control. Stanton was cited for failure to update address with the DMV.
