MONROE — Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the W9400 block of Wis. 11, Town of Cadiz, at 9:42 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. Thomas W. Zigler, 75, Janesville, was westbound when he noted a large amount of smoke coming from his vehicle. He pulled over and discovered the vehicle was on fire. The Browntown Fire Department extinguished the fire. Zigler reported no injuries. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed.

●  A one-vehicle rollover crash with injuries was reported in the N1200 block of Clarno Road, Town of Clarno, at about 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. Philip E. Baumgartner, 60, Monroe, was northbound when he reported that he swerved to miss a herd of deer in the road. The vehicle went into the ditch, struck a culvert and rolled onto its roof. Baumgartner reported wearing a seatbelt and no injuries. A passenger, Cody J. Vavra, 28, Monroe, was transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER for injuries he sustained in the crash. Vavra reported not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle was towed. The Monroe Fire Department assisted deputies.

On Sunday, Sept. 29:

●  A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:22 a.m. in the Town of Albany. Investigation revealed a truck driven by Levi J. Rundle, 23, Albany, was southbound on Tin Can Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign at County F, crossed through the intersection and struck the embankment in the south ditch of County F. Rundle reported no injuries. The truck sustained moderate damage and was towed. Rundle was cited for failure to notify law enforcement of a motor vehicle crash, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to maintain control, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, improper parking on a roadway and obstructing an officer. Albany police assisted deputies in the investigation.

●  A car vs. tree crash was reported at 8:22 p.m. in the N8600 block of Marty Road, Town of New Glarus. Alexis J. Graber, 18, Monticello, was southbound when she lost control on a curve due to road conditions. The vehicle went off the road via the west shoulder and hit several trees. Graber reported no injuries. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Thursday, Sept. 26:

●  No injuries were reported from a semi-truck accident at 10:11 a.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. Sean D. Scott, 34, Davenport, Iowa, was southbound when the brakes on the 2010 Freightliner malfunctioned, causing the semi-truck to veer to the right. The semi hit a guardrail, went off the road and came to rest in the ditch. It was towed. The Darlington Fire Department, Green County EMS of Darlington and Darlington police assisted deputies on scene.

●  David Schmocker, 44, Whitewater, reported hitting a deer at 8:08 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Wayne. No injuries were reported. The 2019 GMC, which was pulling a 2014 Appleton Steel trailer, sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

●  Randal E. Zemlicka, 63, Monroe, reported hitting a deer at 9:28 p.m. on County G, Town of Fayette. No injuries were reported. The 2015 Ford sustained minor damage.

On Friday, Sept. 27:

●  Katherine S. Rielly, 46, Cuba City, reported hitting a deer at 5:43 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove. No injuries were reported. The 2018 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
