Green County Sheriff

MONROE — On July 20:

•  No injuries were reported during a single-vehicle crash at 9:37 a.m. in the W7700 block of Smock Valley Road in the Town of Jordan.Christine A. Mueller, 57, Monroe, was traveling westbound on Smock Valley Road when a large tree branch broke off of a tree and fell onto her vehicle. Mueller’s vehicle sustained damage and the air bags did not deploy.  Mueller’s vehicle was driven from the scene. 

•  No injuries were reported during a single-vehicle crash at 11:29 p.m. at the intersection of Brooklyn Albany Road and County C in the Town of Brooklyn. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on County C when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle then left the roadway, struck several guide wires to a telephone pole, and ended up in a corn field. The vehicle was found to be abandoned and the driver was not located. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.  The crash remains under investigation. 

On July 24:

• Injuries were reported during a two-vehicle crash at 3:31 p.m. on Wis. 69 and Wis. 11 in Monroe. Joy K. Dolezel, 33, Monroe, was northbound on Wis. 69 attempting to turn west on to Wis. 11 when she collided with a southbound vehicle operated by Dennis W. Nipple, 69, Monroe. Both Dolezel and Nipple were in the crash but declined EMS transport. The air bags deployed in both vehicles. Both vehicles had severe damage and were towed. Dolezel was cited for inattentive driving and was released pending court. Monroe Fire, Green County EMS and Wisconsin State Patrol also responded.

• No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash at 5:14 p.m. on Wis. 81 ina Wis. 11 in Monroe.Whitney N. Connors, 17, Argyle, was southbound on Wis. 81 when she was rear-ended by a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene, but Connors got the license plate off of the vehicle. Deputies later identified the driver as Tari S. Dower, 57, Monroe. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. Dower was cited for inattentive driving and was released pending court.

On July 27:

• Injuries were reported during a one-vehicle rollover crash at 8:08 p.m. on County N at Meadow Valley Road in the town of New Glarus. Leah J. Flanagan, 16, Argyle, was southbound on County N and failed to negotiate a curve, causing her vehicle to enter the west shoulder, roll over and strike a fence post. Flanagan was wearing her seat belt and the airbags deployed. Flanagan was transported by New Glarus EMS to Monroe Clinic. Flanagan’s vehicle was towed.

On July 28:

• No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash at 5:33 p.m. in the 400 block of 2nd street in the Village of New Glarus. Clinton M. Douglas, 57, New Glarus, was performing a backing maneuver when he struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. Douglas was wearing his seatbelt and the airbag did not deploy. Both vehicles were damaged.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On July 11:

•  A minor two-vehicle crash was reported at 9:14 a.m. on Alma Street in Benton.

•  No injuries were reported when Alivia C. Riley, 24, Darlington, struck a deer at 8:19 p.m. on R and K Road in Darlington Township. Riley’s 2018 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 13:

• No injuries were reported during a one-vehicle crash at 2:28 a.m. on County W in Gratiot. Brandon M. Wilson, 20, Lancaster, was eastbound on County W when he lost control on a curve. His 2003 Pontiac sustained severe damage and was towed. Wilson was cited for driving without a valid license (second offense), operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failing to maintain control.Warren EMS, Paramount EMS, Gratiot First Response and the Gratiot Fire also reponded.

• No injuries were reported during a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 151 in Belmont. Mikayla M. Carlson, 25, Almond, was traveling on U.S. 151 when she swerved to miss an animal, causing her to lose control. Her 2005 Buick sustained severe damage and was towed. Belmont EMS and Belmont Fire also responded.

• No injuries were reported during a one-vehicle crash at 6:34 p.m. in the Town of Wiota. Jared A. Meister, 19, Darlington, was westbound on County Y when the trailer he was pulling came disconnected from his truck. There was minor damage to the trailer.

• No injuries were reported during a one-vehicle crash at 7:12 p.m. on county KK in Gratiot. Ryan C. Chumbler, 29, Galena, Illinois, was southbound on County KK pulling a 2009 Dutchman camper. Due to weather conditions, straight-line winds picked up his travel trailer and threw it into the north ditch. The trailer sustained severe damage. The Gratiot Fire Department assisted.

• Injuries were reported during a UTV crash at 11:26 p.m. on the Cheese Country Trail. Robert A. Pertzborn, 40, Edgerton, was driving on the trail when he hit a tree that had fallen into the middle of the trail due to weather conditions. His UTV sustained minor damage. Pertzborn was transported by Paramount EMS for non-life threatening injuries. Pertzborn was cited for operating a UTV while intoxicated. The Darlington Fire Department assisted. 

On July 14:

• No injuries were reported during a two-vehicle crash at 8:57 a.m. on County KK in Gratiot. David S. Eden, 54, Bushnell, and Stephanie L. Beranek, 23, Darlington, were driving on County KK when their vehicles collided. Beranek’s 1999 Toyota and Eden’s 2012 Toyota sustained moderate damage and were towed.

• Injuries were reported during an ATV crash at 11:36 a.m. on County F in Darlington. Alena A.M. Joseph, 18, Morton Grove, Illinois, was southbound on the Cheese Country Trail when she lost control of the ATV, causing the vehicle to veer off into the south ditch and roll over. She was transported by Paramount EMS for non-life threatening injuries. The Darlington Fire Department assisted.

On July 16: 

•  No injuries were reported when Cassandra L. McCarthy, 23, Belmont, struck a deer at 5:36 a.m. on County O, Kendall Township.  McCarthy’s 2003 Nissan sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 17:

•  A hit-and-run accident was reported at 12:08 p.m. on Mineral Road, Darlington.  Darlington Police assisted.

•  A two-vehicle accident was reported at 12:13 p.m. on Wis. 11, South Wayne. 

•  No injuries were reported when Charles A. Vesbach, 53, Platteville, struck a cow at 1:55 p.m. on Bales Road, White Oak Springs Township. Vesbach’s 2007 GMC sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 18:

•  A two-vehicle crash was reported at 7:12 a.m. on Wis. 11, Shullsburg.  

On July 20:

•  No injuries were reported when Susan A. Aurand, 54, South Wayne, struck a deer at 9:48 p.m. on Wis. 11 in Gratiot. Aurand’s 2010 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 21:

•  A minor traffic accident was reported at 7:35 p.m. on East Main Street in Benton.

•  No injuries were reported when Donna J. Douglas, 64, Darlington, struck a deer at 10:37 p.m. on Wis. 23, Willow Springs Township. Douglas’ 2015 Ford sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 22:

•  No injuries were reported when Michael D. Chambers, 56, Darlington, struck a deer at 7:37 a.m. on County G, Fayette Township. Chambers’ Lincoln sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 23:

•  No Injuries were reported when Joseph H. Ubersox, 39, Shullsburg, struck a deer at 5:09 a.m. on County B in Wayne Township at 5:09 a.m. Ubersox’ 2012 Chrysler sustained moderate damage and was towed.

On July 24:

•  No injuries were reported when Melissa Gollmer, 46, Darlington, struck a deer at 3:55 p.m. on Wis. 81 in Lamont Township. Gollmer’s 2015 Chevrolet sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 26:

•  No injuries were reported when Patrick J. Reichling, 54, Mineral Point, struck a deer at 8:03 p.m. on Wis. 23, Willow Springs Township. Reichling’s 2018 Dodge sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

On July 28:

•  No injuries were reported when Stanley K. Smith, 60, Darlington, struck a deer at 4:08 a.m. on Wis. 78 in Argyle Township. Smith’s 2008 Toyota sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene


Monroe Police

MONROE — On July 20:

•  No injuries were reported during a two vehicle crash at 5:55 p.m. on 9th Street at 25th Avenue. A vehicle driven by Adrienne L. Webber, 30, Janesville, was eastbound on 9th Street, pulled out from a stop sign at 25th Avenue and collided with a vehicle southbound on 25th Avenue, operated by Whitney N. Humphrey, 30, Monroe. Both vehicles sustained moderate damages, but were able to be driven. Webber was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, and was released pending a court appearance. Humphrey was cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and was released pending a court appearance.


Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — No injuries were reported when a vehicle’s mirror struck the side of a building at 9:15 p.m. on July 23 in the 900 block of West Exchange Street. The matter remains under investigation.
