DARLINGTON — A Blanchardville man will spend over two years in prison after pleading guilty on Monday Jan. 22, to child pornography charges in Lafayette County Circuit Court.
Logan M. Swiggum was initially charged with 11 counts of possession of child pornography. At the Monday hearing, he pleaded guilty to five of those felony counts; as well as two misdemeanors for possession of THC and possession of a controlled substance, according to court records. The remaining child pornography charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement but read into the court record.
If convicted on all counts, Swiggum faced a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison on the child porn charges.
The three-year sentence includes credit for 216 days already served, followed by another two years of extended supervision.
In a separate case, he also pleaded guilty to a felony fleeing to elude, possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture methamphetamine, felony criminal damage to property (over $2,500), possession of an illegal article, and a misdemeanor charge of hit and run.
He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, and two years of probation, running concurrent to any other sentences. Several bail jumping charges were dismissed but read in to the court record.
He was released on $5,000 cash bond shortly after his arrest last March.
