BRODHEAD - William (Willie) Foesch, age 71, of Brodhead, WI, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at his home, after a six year long battle of fighting cancer. He was born July, 6th 1940 in Monroe, WI, the son of Carl Sr. and Adeline (Sandley) Foesch. He married Carol Sellnow in Monroe, WI on February 14, 1960.
William was a resident of Brodhead most of his life. He worked for Dearth Motors, Monroe, WI from 1958-1965. In 1965 he started his own business, Foesch Body Shop. Then he worked for Martin Automatic, Rockford, IL from 1978 until he retired in 2001.
William, known as Willie Wonka, was an avid fisherman with his wife Carol, family and many friends on the Sugar River, Madison lakes and the Mighty Mississippi River near Lynxville and Ferryville, WI. When he wasn't fishing, that is where he wished he was. He and Carol enjoyed sitting outside under their tree at home and having many family and friends stop by to say hello and have a cold one. One of their favorite memories they loved to talk about was their many fish fries in the shop. Cooking up fish, frog legs and many other meats were on the menu.
Willie also enjoyed riding along with his son Allen while helping install a satellite or hooking up a new TV for Al's business, Al's Satellite & Antenna.
He is survived by his wife Carol of 52 years; children, Allen (Meggan) Foesch, Doreen (Scott) Rosheisen, both of Brodhead, WI, Eric (Tammy) Foesch, Rapid City, SD; eight grandchildren, Britta Foesch, Las Vegas, NV, Brock, Bailey Foesch, Trevor Rosheisen, Lucas Stephenson, all of Brodhead, WI, Jeremy (Joy Zabel) Rosheisen, Beloit, WI, Cole, Carter Blenner, Rapid City, SD; one great-grandchild, Ella Rosheisen, Beloit, WI; six siblings, Elsie Meier, Monroe, WI, Carl Jr. (Judy) Foesch, Charlotte, NC, David Foesch, Portland, OR, Greg (Virginia) Foesch, Gratiot, WI, Jim Foesch, Beloit, WI and Gail (Roger) Gille, Monroe, WI; brother-in-law, Don (Ardelle) Sellnow, Monroe, WI; sister-in-law, Shirley (Stan) Purdue, Brodhead, WI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Ken Sellnow, and niece, Karen Indergand.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Rev. Lowell Stuessy officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. A luncheon will follow at Congregational United Church, E201 23rd St, Brodhead, WI.
