William A. Gamache

William A. Gamache, age 78 of Monroe, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at University Hospital, Madison, with his family by his side. Bill was born December 27, 1932 in Salem, MA, the son of the late George and Helen (Donovan) Gamache. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 as a surgical technician stationed in Korea. Following his honorable discharge, Bill earned a degree from Northeastern University in Boston. He began his career with Sylvan Electric in Manufacturing, but eventually moved to Human Resources. In 1972, Bill moved to Monroe where he was employed as the Human Resource Manager for Advance Transformer. He worked for Fish Building Supply following his retirement from Advance in 1988.

Bill enjoyed golf, watching sporting events, traveling (especially cruising), and was an avid reader. Internet research was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved his church with an extra special fondness for the Bible Study Group.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Reggie Gamache of Monroe; four children, Trevor (Michelle) Gamache of Scarborough, Maine, Samantha (Kevin) Hayes of Minneapolis, MN, Corey (Gary) Cooley of Louisiana; and Steven Gamache of Massachusetts; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Booth officiating. A luncheon and celebration of Bill's life will follow in the church fellowship hall. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund will be established in Bill's name for the Monroe United Methodist Church. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
