Wilbert E. Ward age 80 of Monroe, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at his home from complications of the heart.
Wilbert was born December 2, 1931 in Rice Lake, WI, the son of Hilda Ward McDermid and Dr. J.E. McDermid.
He graduated from Ladysmith High School and earned a degree in Pharmacy at UW-Madison after serving two years in the U.S. Army.
He was employed as a Pharmacist at the Monroe Clinic for 47 years.
Wilbert was an active member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and Monroe City Band.
He was also a member of the Monroe Lapidary and Geological Society, Monroe Optimist Club, and volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader for troop 114.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ward of Monroe; a son, John (Jeanne) Ward of Norwalk, Ohio; a daughter, Wendy (Anders) Savanoe of Madison; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 29, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Private family graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, with Rev. Randy Booth officiating. A memorial fund will be established in Wilbert's name for the Monroe United Methodist Church and Heartland Hospice, 6885 Vistagreen Way, Rockford, IL 61107.
