NEW GLARUS - BELLEVILLE, WIS. -- Mr. Werner J. Bodenmann, age 73, of rural Belleville passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Madison, WI. He was born on October 30, 1936, in McFarland, WI, to his parents Jakob and Sylvia (Wurgler) Bodenmann. Werner graduated from New Glarus High School in 1954, and then served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. On June 7, 1957 he was united in marriage to the former Louann Butts at Mt. Vernon, WI.
Werner worked for the Town of Primrose, DECAR Inc., Federal Industries in Belleville, from where he retired, and later was associated with Beal Funeral Homes for several years. He was the treasurer for the Town of Primrose from 1977 to 1997, and a member of the New Glarus Fire District Board from 1982 to 2005. Werner also was the Scoutmaster for the New Glarus Boy Scout Troop for many years.
Werner is survived by his wife Louann of Belleville; three sons, Frederick (Gloria) Bodenmann of New Glarus, Michael (Renee Becker) Bodenmann of Belleville, and Kevin (Doreen) Bodenmann of New Glarus; a daughter, Laurie (Butch) Koch of Evansville, WI; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah) Gomoll, Taylor Koch, Kasey Bodenmann, Kelsey Bodenmann, Jesse Bodenmann, Jamie (Chad) Brecklin, and Jesse Darrow; three great-grandchildren, Austin Miller, Luke Brecklin, and Lance Brecklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Doris, and an infant brother Frederick.
Relatives and friends may call after 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2009, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI.
