Walter E. Gobeli, 75, of Ava, Mo., died on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
He was born Feb. 27, 1940, in Rock City, Ill., the son of John and Melvia (Kline) Gobeli.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1963.
Walter and Nellie (Anderegg) Schindler were united in marriage on May 28, 1977 on the banks of a river in Montana.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie, of Ava; a son, Richard (Leslie) Schindler, of Monroe, Wisc.; three daughters, RoxAnn (Mark) Samelstad of New Richmond, Wisc.; Rhonda (Brian) Nelson, of Tomah, Wisc.; Robyn Scharvin, of Oxford, Neb.; brothers Ivan (Marlene) Gobeli, of Monroe, Wisc.; Jim (Judy) Gobeli, of Argyle, Wisc.; and sister, Wanda Kline, of Monroe, Wisc. He also had eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Melvia; and brothers, Wendell and John.
He never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest.
His body was cremated and as he wished his ashes will be scattered.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
