Vivian J. Bartelt, age 101 of Monroe died Monday, September 5, 2011 at Harbor House in Monroe. Vivian was born December 22, 1909 in Wisconsin, the daughter of Chester A. and Emma (Riemer) Belleville. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1927 and Green County Normal School in 1928.

She taught school for four years prior to her marriage to Harold Albert Bartelt on February 19, 1932 at the Staver St. Peter United Methodist Church, Clarno Township. The couple farmed in Clarno Township for several years. Vivian worked at Montgomery Ward, Sears, and as a substitute teacher for several years.

She was a lifetime member of Staver United Methodist Church where she was involved with the choir and Room For You. She enjoyed singing with her three siblings known as the Belleville Sisters. Vivian is survived by a daughter, Gloria Maurer of Monroe; her granddaughter, Rebecca (John) Olmscheid of Plymouth, MN; and three great grandchildren, Megan, Grant, and Ryan Olmscheid. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1995; and three sisters, Violette Metcalf, Eunice Bartelt, and Helen Rote.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Staver United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Gregersen officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given in Vivian's name to the church.
