Virginia L. Kummer, 82, formerly of Monroe, died Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was born August 19, 1931, to Emil and Bess (Jolin) Knaack above her father's cheese factory in Marion.
Virginia graduated from high school in Monroe. She married Charles F. Kummer on August 31, 1951, in Monroe. Charles preceded her in death in November 1994. Virginia enjoyed caring for her family, many friends and traveling. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Portage, and First United Church of Christ in Green Bay. Virginia served on and led the Pulpit Committee at each church. She was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR.
Virginia is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Marsha Kummer, Johnston, IA; Jill and Clarence King, Bakersfield, CA; Greg and Martha Kummer, Green Bay; grandchildren, Matthew (Nikki), Benjamin (Lisa), Andrew (Katie), Michael (Seneca), Amanda, Aimee, Gregory II "JR", Valerie, Carlos; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Bienema, Kristine (James) Ronspiez; sister-in-law, Helen Bratzke (Ray); sister-in-law, Mardell Crotty; many nieces and nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Ronald Bartz; sister, Joan Doyle; brother-in-law, Jack Doyle; brother-in-law, Richard Bienema; father-in-law, Walter Kummer; mother-in-law, Lena (Stucki) Kummer; brother-in-law, Edward Kummer; sister-in-law, Helen Kummer; and brother-in-law, Morris Crotty.
