Virginia E. Emberson, age 84, of rural Argyle, WI, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI, surrounded by her family. She was born April 6, 1930 in Blanchardville, WI, the daughter of Kermit and Esther (Severson) Thompson. Virginia graduated from Darlington High School in 1948. She grew up in the Blanchardville and Darlington areas until her marriage to Merlin Emberson on June 7, 1952 at Blanchardville Lutheran Church, when they began farming on the Emberson family farm.

Virginia is survived by three children: Harlan (Brenda) Emberson of rural Argyle, Sharon (Duane) Steiner of Lancaster, WI, and Steve Emberson of rural Argyle; three grandchildren: Carrie (Nik) Wahl, and Amanda and Bryon Emberson; one great-granddaughter: Annalise Wahl; one brother: Owen (Ruth) Thompson; and one sister-in-law: Delores Emberson of Bloomington, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; her husband on February 14, 2008; and one brother-in-law: Curtis Emberson in 2005.

Virginia was a member of Adams Lutheran Church and its Women of ELCA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Virginia's hobbies included cooking, gardening, quilting, and word searches. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for her sense of humor and her Norwegian goodies.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Adams Lutheran Church, N7148 County Road A, Argyle, 53504, with Rev. Rick Fry officiating. Burial will be at Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle, 801 East Milwaukee Street.
