CROSS PLAINS - Virgil LeRoy Bowman, age 78 of Cross Plains, WI died on Friday, July 03, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born September 2, 1930 in Argyle, WI to Melvin & Inez (Daley) Bowman. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. He served in the US Navy from 1950-1956 during the Korean War.

Virgil married Viola Brunkow on September 3, 1952 in Monroe WI. Viola died in 1962. He then married Judyth A. Roehrdanz on September 19, 1964. He resided and worked in Monroe, WI prior to moving to Cross Plains in 1986.

He was a member of Midland United Methodist Church and of the Cross Plains American Legion Post #245.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 45 years: Judyth, his children: Virginia Ann (William) Diebold of Cross Plains, William LeRoy (Lori) Bowman of Reedsburg, Susanna Dawn Timblin of Rice Lake, 9 grandchildren, a great grandson: Liam, several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Viola and twin sisters: Joyce and Joan.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Midland United Methodist Church, 10235 Hwy KP, Rural Black Earth, WI with Rev. Dianne Vielhuber officiating. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe, WI. Full military honors will be accorded. Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Monday, July 6, 2009 at the ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 1710 Center St., Black Earth, WI and also from 10:00 AM till 10:50 AM on Tuesday at the church.
