Verlynn Dean Gertsch, age 49 of Darlington, WI, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008. He was born on June 28, 1958, in Darlington, the son of Albert and Violet (Holverson) Gertsch in Darlington.
Verlynn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington where he served on the Church Council and a life member of North American Hunting Club. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and woodworking. Verlynn will always be remembered for cooking his squirrel dumpling stew, apple dönkle and the weekend chocolate malts.
Verlynn is survived by his wife: Beverly Jo at home; mother: Violet of Darlington; three children: Matthew Dean (Cassie) Gertsch and Nicholas Alfred Gertsch, both of Kenosha, WI, and Nathan Michael Gertsch at home; five step-children: Al (Shiela) Miller of Argyle, WI, Denise (Shawn) McCoy of Dodgeville, WI and Dan, Duane and Diane Johnson, all at home; 7 grandchildren; five brothers: Allynn (Denise Iverson) Gertsch of Wiota, WI, Arlynn Gertsch of rural Darlington, Colynn (Lori Lynne) Gertsch of rural Sparta, WI, Galynn (Christine) Gertsch of Breese, IL and Noellynn (Lori Anne) Gertsch of Roswell, GA; one sister: Lynn (Lester) Andrews of Monroe and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on October 14, 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington with Rev. Carol Johnson officiating. Burial will be at West Wiota Cemetery in Gratiot Township. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington.
