BRODHEAD — Three people were killed during an early morning vehicle versus semi-truck crash on Wis. 11.

At about 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, Jesus Juan Carlos Lopez Velaquez, 42, was traveling west on Wis. 81 and approaching the intersection with County GG. Velaquez failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a semi-truck traveling east on Wis. 11.

Velaquez and his passengers, Gustavo Adolfo Martinez, 33, of South Beloit, Ill. and another unidentified male, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. Velaquez was wearing his seat belt. Martinez and the unidentified male were not.

Debris from the semi-trailer, which was operated by Adam Tykac, 38, of Oostburg, struck a vehicle traveling west on Wis. 11 operated by Lindsey Myhre, 35 of Brodhead. Tykac and Myhre were wearing seatbelts and were both uninjured.

The Green County Sheriff’s Deputies stated in a press release, “Fog, speed, and the traffic violation are all factors in the crash.”

The sheriff’s department was aided at the scene by the Brodhead Fire, EMS and Police Departments, Juda Fire Department, and Beloit EMS Paramedics.
