ORANGEVILLE, Ill. - A driver faces charges and two school-age girls were injured after a truck vs. pedestrian accident Thursday, Jan. 12, on Orange Street.

The Stephenson County Sheriff's Department reports that the driver of a blue extended-cab Chevy pickup truck lost control at about 3:15 p.m. on the snow-covered street, skidded out of control and hit two girls walking nearby.

One of the girls was drug underneath the truck and sustained serious injuries. Both victims were transported to the Freeport Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The driver faces charges reckless driving and failure to reduce speed, according to a news release. An additional, unspecified charge was "filed for an incident that occurred as the result of the accident."

Pending an ongoing investigation, the sheriff's department is withholding names due to the ages of the victims and driver. No further information was available Thursday evening.
