Monroe Police

MONROE - Paul B. Baker, 35, Monroe, was arrested at 2:06 a.m. for driving while intoxicated, first offense, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police located him following a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 14th Avenue and 18th Street. Baker was also cited for unreasonable and imprudent speed and failure to maintain control. He was released pending court.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Friday:

• No injuries were reported in a semi vs. truck crash in the W8100 block of Wisconsin 11, Town of Cadiz. Nicholas R. Kulas, 33, Shullsburg, was eastbound when he attempted to change lanes and hit an eastbound semi driven by Bruce B. Carr Sr., 51, Darlington. The semi sustained very minor damage and was driven from the scene. Kulas' truck was moderately damaged and towed from the scene. Kulas was cited at 8:53 a.m. for unsafe lane deviation and driving while revoked. He was released pending court.

• Daniel G. Benkert, 28, Albany, was uninjured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred in the W1000 block of Wisconsin 92, Town of Brooklyn, at 10:11 a.m. Benkert was northbound on County E, approaching the intersection of Wisconsin 92, when he reported the foggy weather made it difficult to see a stop sign until the last minute. Benkert braked but his vehicle went across the road and hit a traffic sign and post. The vehicle then went down a ditch where it hit a fence. Benkert was able to drive out of the field. The vehicle was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.

On Saturday:

• Hailey C. Viney, 20, Belleville, was uninjured in a deer vs. car crash that occurred in the N9000 block of Wisconsin 69, Town of New Glarus, at 7:04 p.m. Viney was southbound when a deer ran into the roadway and hit her car. The car was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.

• Donald L. Farhney, 74, rural Monroe, was uninjured in a fox vs. vehicle accident that occurred in the N6600 block of County N, Town of Washington, at 9:18 p.m.. Farhney was southbound when a fox ran into the roadway and hit his vehicle. The vehicle received minor damage and was driven from the scene.

On Sunday:

• No one was injured in a hit-and-run accident in the 100 block of South Mill Street, Browntown, at 1:34 a.m. An unknown vehicle hit the rear driver's side area of a legally parked vehicle owned by Gary J. Smith, 55, Darlington. The crash occurred sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 1:20 a.m. and an investigation into the matter continues.

• Roy J. Thomas, 71, Monroe, and his passenger were uninjured in a car vs. deer crash that occurred in the W6500 block of Wis. 11, Town of Monroe, at 6:52 a.m. Thomas was eastbound when a deer ran into the roadway and hit his vehicle. The vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

• George Diaz, 60, Albany, was uninjured in a one-vehicle accident in the N6300 block of Tin Can Road, Town of Albany, at 10:07 am. Diaz was southbound when he reportedly saw something fly towards his vehicle. Diaz swerved to avoid the object and hit a stump along the west side of the roadway. The vehicle was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.

• Christopher T. Seffrood, 39, Blanchardville, and his passenger were uninjured in a car vs. deer crash that occurred in the N6400 block of County A, Town of Adams, at 6:39 p.m. Seffrood was northbound when a deer ran into the roadway and hit his car. The car was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.

• Dorrene M. Martin, 48, Orangeville, was uninjured in a deer vs. car crash that occurred in the N1800 block of Wis. 69, Town of Clarno, at 7:15 p.m. Martin was southbound when a deer ran into the roadway and hit her vehicle. The car was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON -On Friday:

• Anthony Muhlstein, 46, Darlington, reported hitting a deer with his vehicle at 6:12 a.m. on Wisconsin 81, Lamont Township.

• A deputy responded to a hit-and-run accident on County Z, Willow Springs Township, at 11:16 a.m. The vehicle was described as a 4x4 with possible front-end and passenger side damage. The vehicle was southbound and failed to negotiate a curve and traveled sideways into the ditch line hitting a road sign. The vehicle continued through a barbed wire fence into a pasture and then fled up an embankment southbound.

• A deputy took a report of a hit-and-run accident at 6:08 p.m. where a vehicle had driven through a fence on Springbrook Road, Wiota Township.

On Saturday:

• Jacob Gast, 23, Ankeny, Iowa, reported minor injuries after his vehicle hit a parked car on West Main Street, Benton, at 2:38 p.m. Wisconsin State Police assisted at the scene.

• Tamara Gierhart, 36, Argyle, reported hitting a deer with her vehicle at 3 p.m. on North Riverbend Road, Wiota Township.

• Yurida Garcia-Arreola, 41, Woodford, was transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital after her van rolled over in an accident on Trotter Road, Wiota Township, at 6:18 p.m. Garcia-Arreola was eastbound when she swerved to miss a deer and the van overturned. She was transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Her van was severely damaged and towed from the scene. Garcia-Arreola was cited for driving without a license. Woodford Fire Department and Argyle Ambulance assisted at the scene.

• A deputy observed Thomas Kudronowicz, 70, Gratiot, hit a raccoon with his vehicle on Wis. 81, Seymour Township, at 7:59 p.m.

• Christine Stephens, 56, Cuba City, reported hitting a deer with her vehicle at 8:08 p.m. on Wis. 11, Shullsburg Township.

On Sunday:

• Daniel Blotz, 43, Mineral Point, reported hitting a deer with her vehicle on County D, Fayette Township, at 7:34 p.m.

• Tyler Molencamp, 19, Platteville, was uninjured after his vehicle went into a ditch and hit a fence on Wis. 81, Elk Grove Township, at 7:34 p.m. Molencamp was eastbound when he reportedly fell asleep and hit a fence. His vehicle was severely damaged and towed from the scene.

• A deputy took a report of a hit-and-run accident that caused property damage at 9:12 p.m. on County A, Shullsburg Township.



New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - Issam Belmadani, 33, Madison, was cited at 1:18 p.m. Friday, on four citations of failure to notify police of an accident, hit-and-run accident, driving without insurance and driving without a valid license, after Belmandi allegedly hit cars and fled. Investigation revealed Belmandi's vehicle hit a legally parked Hyundai which then hit a parked Buick Lesabre which in turn hit a Dodge Caravan. All the vehicles were legally parked and unoccupied. Belmandi allegedly fled the scene and was found by using video surveillance. He was called and subsequently admitted to causing the accident and fleeing the scene. All the vehicles sustained moderate damage and were driveable. Belmandi was allegedly involved in another accident in Dane County after he fled New Glarus.
