Monroe Police

MONROE - No injuries were reported at 3:18 p.m. after Brooklynn C. Thomas, 19, Monroe, struck an unoccupied vehicle at the intersection of 14th Avenue and 14th Street on Saturday. Thomas was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and was given a court date. Both vehicles received minor damage.



New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - On Thursday, no injuries were reported at 1:30 p.m. after Sheila M. Miller, 34, Argyle, backed her vehicle into another driven by Shane A. Larson, 32, New Glarus, in the 500 block of 6th Street. Police responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash, but neither driver was cited.

On Saturday, two people were injured after an out-of-control vehicle collided with a guardrail at 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wisconsin 69 and County W. Both the driver, Marie C. Huff, 35, Brooklyn, and the passenger, Jason L. Huff, 39, Brooklyn, were transported to a Madison hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. MarieË was cited for failing to maintain control of her vehicle and for a seatbelt violation, while Jason was cited for a seatbelt violation. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. Green County Sheriff's deputies, New Glarus Area EMS and the New Glarus Fire Department assisted on scene.

On Sunday:

• No injuries were reported at 9:37 a.m. after a motorcycle rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection of Wis. 69 and 14th Avenue. The vehicle was forced to stop suddenly to avoid colliding with a second vehicle that abruptly turned onto 14th Avenue, and the motorcycle was not able to stop in time. The motorcyclist, Jack A. Nelmark, 49, Monroe, was cited for inattentive driving, driving without a motorcycle license and non-registration of a vehicle. The motorcycle was towed from the scene. The Green County Sheriff's Department assisted on scene.

• No injuries were reported at 11:15 p.m. after a car vs. deer collision in the N9600 block of State Highway 69. Police assisted the Green County Sheriff's Department.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Friday:

• Minor injuries to two people were reported at 3:54 p.m. when deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident in the W7100 block of County H, Town of New Glarus. The driver, a 16-year-old male, reported that he experienced mechanical problems before his vehicle entered a ditch and rolled over several times before coming to rest on its wheels. Both the driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. New Glarus Police, Fire Department and EMS assisted on scene.

• Minor injuries to two people were reported at 3:58 p.m. after a rear-end collision at the intersection of Wis. 69 and County FF, Town of Monroe. Brittani L. Fidler, 26, Monticello, rear-ended the vehicle of Casey Kehoe, 17, Monroe, which had stopped to make a turn at the intersection. Fidler was cited for inattentive driving. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were wearing seatbelts. Kehoe's vehicle was severely damaged, while Fidler's sustained moderate damage. Both were towed from the scene.

On Saturday:

• No injuries were reported at 9:33 a.m. after David A. Genschaw, 64, New Glarus, struck a deer in the N9300 block of Wis. 69. Genschaw's vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.

• Some injuries were reported at 12:14 p.m. after a motorcycle accident at the intersection of County F and Purintun Road, Town of Mount Pleasant. Robert F. Alexander, 54, Machesney Park, Ill., lost control of his motorcycle on gravel while negotiating a curve and was thrown from the vehicle while it slid off the road. Alexander was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. His motorcycle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Albany EMS and Monticello First Response responded on scene.

• No injuries were reported at 1:42 p.m. after an accident at the intersection of Wis. 59 and Myers Road, Town of Sylvester. Gypsy R. Busjahn, 37, Albany, lost control of her vehicle on gravel while negotiating a curve. Her vehicle overturned when it slid into a ditch. Busjahn was uninjured, but her vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. Busjahn was cited for no insurance and was released pending court.

• A driver was transported to a hospital at 8:04 p.m. after an accident in the N9400 block of County D, Town of Exeter. Philip E. Kale, 51, Belleville, drove into a ditch and flipped his vehicle onto its roof, also damaging a power pole and junction box. Kale was cited for driving while intoxicated (first offense), driving without vehicle insurance, failure to wear a seat belt and failure to maintain control of motor vehicle. Although Kale initially stated he was uninjured, he complained of pain while being transported, and was therefore taken to a local hospital. Kale was jailed afterward. His vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. Alliant Energy was notified of the damaged power pole.

• No injuries were reported at 9:17 p.m. after Gayle F. Lawler, 62, New Glarus, struck a deer in the N9500 block of Wis. 69, Town of New Glarus. Lawler's vehicle received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Friday:

• No injuries were reported at 6:25 p.m. after Andrew Hardy, 62, Mineral Point, struck a deer on Jericho Road, Town of Belmont.

• No injuries were reported at 6:50 p.m. after Heidi Brenum, 57, Gratiot, struck a deer on Red Rock Road, Town of Darlington.

On Sunday, minor injuries were reported at 7:13 p.m. after a three-vehicle collision involving an Amish buggy on Wis. 81, Town of Seymour. Nicklaus Powell, 20, Lindenhurst, Ill., rear-ended an Amish buggy, startling the horse into crossing the centerline and striking an oncoming vehicle driven by Steven Steinhoff, 62, Darlington. Powell was cited for inattentive driving. Both motor vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene. Darlington Fire Department and Rural Medical Ambulance Service assisted on scene.
