Traffic Accidents: March 24, 2015

Green County Sheriff

MONROE - Alan P. Schwartz, 57, Monroe, was uninjured in a deer vs. car accident that occurred in the W4800 block of Wisconsin 11, Town of Sylvester, at 4:37 a.m. Friday. Schwartz was westbound when a deer ran into the roadway and hit the rear driver's side of his car. The car was moderately damaged and driven from the scene. The deer was killed in the accident.

On Saturday:

• Michael C. Shoger, 64, Winslow, was uninjured in a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of County M at County B, Cadiz Township. Shoger was arrested at 4:34 a.m. for driving while intoxicated and driving with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration and cited for failure to maintain control of his vehicle. Shoger reported his vehicle was southbound on County M when his vehicle didn't turn onto County B and traveled into the south ditch, becoming stuck. There was no visible damage to the vehicle. Shoger was released pending court.

• Karen S. Richards, 54, Brodhead, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash in the N4000 block of Park Road, Town of Decatur, at 6:37 p.m. Richards was northbound when she lost control of her vehicle and entered the west ditch, hit a tree and came to a stop. The vehicle was moderately damaged and was removed by Richards.

On Sunday:

• Garrett C. Gelbach, 30, Madison, was cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle and failure to report a crash after deputies discovered a pickup in the ditch in the N9300 block of County D, Town of Exeter. Gelbach was not at the scene when deputies arrived at 12:27 a.m. The truck appeared to have been northbound when it went up onto the east shoulder, hit a mailbox, a road embankment and then launched into the air, end over end, hitting a tree at about 15 feet off the ground and finally landing in the ditch. Gelbach reported no injuries from the crash. The truck was severely damaged and towed from the scene. Gelbach was released pending court.

• Cody J. Martin, 21, Brodhead, was uninjured in a one-car accident that occurred at 3 a.m. in the N4400 block of County F, Decatur Township. Martin was northbound when he swerved to avoid a deer and went into the east ditch. The car was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.

• Amy Camille Going, 19, Monroe, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash in the N6800 block of County N, Washington Township, at 5:24 p.m. Going was southbound when she lost control of her vehicle due to the snowy roadway. The vehicle entered the south ditch, hit a fire number sign and then a short rock retaining wall. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Sunday:

• Deputies responded to multiple slide-offs due to the weather at about 3:36 p.m., throughout Lafayette County.

• Tamara L. Gierhart, 36, Argyle, was uninjured in a one-vehicle accident on County G, Fayette Township. Gierhart was eastbound when she lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway and hit a sign. The vehicle received minor damage and was driven from the scene.
