Traffic Accidents: Jan. 27, 2009

MONROE POLICE

MONROE - No one was injured in a hit-and-run accident at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Wisconsin 69 and 17th Street. Police report a vehicle operated by William A. Fell, 32, Freeport, collided with a vehicle operated by Donald A. Walters, 53, Browntown, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Fells was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant; operating after suspension; failure to yield from a stop sign; and hit and run. Fell was released pending court.

GREEN COUNTY SHERIFF

MONROE - Scott R. Tracy, 49, Brodhead, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, third offense; failure to maintain control; and smoking in a county building at about 10 p.m. Saturday, after deputies responded to a call for a vehicle in the ditch on Wisconsin 11 at County G. Tracy was jailed pending court.

• A vehicle driven by Jesse W. Dorn, 20, New Glarus, collided with a deer at about 10 p.m. Saturday in the W6100 block of Wis. 39, New Glarus township. The vehicle received moderate damage.

• A vehicle driven by Lisa M. Adams-Scott, 27, Browntown, collided with a dog at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday on County M at Lewis Road. The dog was killed. The vehicle received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

• Paul M. Johnson, 55, Monticello, was operating a propane truck when cattle (cows) walked in the roadway, and he collided with two of them at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday in the 3900 block of County J for a traffic crash. One cow was killed, and deputies put down the other. The truck received moderate front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

 

LAFAYETTE COUNTY

DARLINGTON - One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Ames Road in Darlington township. Deputies report Gregory R. Frechette, 29, Darlington, was southbound on Ames Road when he lost control of his vehicle, which crossed the roadway skidded into the ditch and struck a utility pole. Darlington Fire Department and Rural Medical Ambulance responded to the scene. Frechette was transported to Lafayette County Memorial Hospital. The vehicle received extensive damage and was towed. Frechette was cited for operating while intoxicated, seatbelt violation, failure to control vehicle and expired registration.

• No one was injured on a one-vehicle accident at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Wis. 11 in Shullsburg township. Deputies report Brandon D. Popp, 27, Cuba City, was westbound when he was distracted by something within the cab of the truck. The vehicle veered into the right ditch and became stuck in the snow. Popp left the scene and reported the accident after a passerby came upon the scene and notified law enforcement. The vehicle received minor damage. Popp was cited for inattentive driving.

• Deputies report an accident at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday on County O in Shullsburg township. No driver or occupants of the vehicle were located at the scene. The vehicle received moderate damage and was towed. The accident remains under investigation.
