Traffic Accidents: Aug. 5, 2014

Monroe Police

MONROE - No injuries were reported in a hit-and-run accident between two vehicles in the 1300 block of 17th Street at 11:41 p.m. Friday. Investigation determined that Jason P. Briand, 33, Brodhead, hit a legally parked motorcycle and fled the scene. Briand was later stopped by Brodhead police. He was cited for driving after revocation, hit-and-run and several other traffic violations.

• Randall J. Marks, 40, Monroe, was arrested at 9:56 p.m. Saturday for driving while under the influence in the 800 block of 8th Street. Marks was released pending court.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Saturday:

• Gary L. Burrington, 63, Argyle, was uninjured in a one-vehicle rollover crash on County M just south of Smock Valley Road, Town of Jordan, at 4:16 p.m. Burrington was northbound on County M attempting to negotiate a curve when he entered the gravel shoulder and lost control of his truck. The truck overturned and hit a fence before coming to rest. The pickup was severely damaged and towed from the scene.

• James L. Furniss, 72, Monroe, was uninjured in a deer vs. vehicle crash that occurred in the N8700 block of County D, Town of Exeter. Furniss was south bound when a deer ran into the roadway and hit his vehicle. The vehicle was moderately damaged and driven from the scene.

• Robert A. Geyer, 41, Monroe, was arrested at 2:39 a.m. Sunday for driving while under the influence of prescription medications, third offense, after deputies responded to a vehicle in the ditch in the N6700 block of Washington Road, Town of Washington. Geyer was jailed pending court.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - Brittney J. Christman, 17, Mineral Point, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle rollover crash on Mitchell Road, Belmont Township, at 3:06 p.m. Friday. Christman was eastbound when her vehicle drifted into the middle of the roadway. As a westbound vehicle approached, Christman attempted to veer back into the eastbound lane. She lost control and the vehicle slid sideways across the roadway and into the ditch. The vehicle rolled onto its side before coming to rest in a cornfield. Christman was transported via Platteville EMS to an area hospital for injuries received in the crash. The 2001 Ford Explorer she was driving sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene. The vehicle traveling in the opposite direction was not damaged and none of the occupants were injured. Deputies, Platteville Fire Department and University of Wisconsin-Platteville police assisted at the scene.

• Nicky D. Johnson, 58, Darlington, and his passenger were uninjured after hitting a cow on Holland Road, Darlington Township, at 9:40 p.m. Sunday. Johnson was eastbound when his 1995 Chevrolet pickup hit a cow causing moderate damage. The truck was driven from the scene.
