BRODHEAD - Tomas W. Porterfield, age 47, of Brodhead, died as the result of an automobile accident on Sunday, October 9, 2011. He was born on January 10, 1964 in Monroe, WI, the son of Philip and Renee (Blumer) Porterfield. He married Karen Rudisill on September 1, 1984 in Monroe.
Tomas graduated from Grace Baptist Academy in 1982 and attended UW-Ag. Short-course in Madison, WI. He had worked for Stoughton Trailers and was currently helping his father on the farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, car shows, the Packers and family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; parents, Phil and Renee Porterfield; three sons, Joel (Katie) Porterfield, Christopher Porterfield, Mathew (Karrissa Steiner) Porterfield, all of Brodhead; two sisters, Sarah (Derrick) Wright, Jen (Mike) Nauta, both of Madison; a brother, Michael Porterfield, Evansville; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Porterfield, Monroe; in-laws, Merle and Shirley Rudisill, Red Oak, IL; two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, maternal grandparents, and an uncle, Kris Blumer.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 14, 2011, at Living Word Church, Brodhead, WI, with Rev. Rob Gibson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church on Friday. The D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, WI is assisting the family.
