Thelma Lehnherr

Thelma Lehnherr, age 89, of Monticello, died on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on December 2, 1918, in Green County, the daughter of B.L. and Mabel (Boeck) Reuber. Thelma and Harold Lehnherr were married on January 15, 1938 in Monroe. She worked for the Carnes Corp. Thelma was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, American Legion Auxiliary Post #256, the Belleville Senior Citizen sewing and quilting group and was a former 4-H leader and Cub Scout leader.

Surviving are her children, Janice Wood, Punta Gorda, Florida, Gloria (Bud) Bailey, Belleville, Illinois, Judy (Norman) Teubert of Darien, James (Judy) Lehnherr of Argyle, Jayne (Gary) Gilbertson, Wisconsin Dells, Jerry (Deborah) Lehnherr, Stoughton, Joe (Cheryl) Lehnherr, Monticello, Joyce (Bob) Halversen, Monticello, Joan (Harold) Legler, New Glarus, Jake (Pam) Lehnherr, New Glarus; 32 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verla Chapman. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; son, Jon; daughter, Jill; and grandchildren, Tom Lehnherr, Todd Lehnherr, Amy Gonzales, Mathew and Mark Lehnherr, Julie Ann and Sharon Oswald; and great-grandson, Damien Lehnherr.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello. Officiating will be Rev. Lawrence Balleine. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon, all at Zwingli Church. A memorial fund is being established in Thelma's memory.
